What To Look Out For When You Are Buying A Used Car Warranty
A used car warranty is something you will need to consider if the manufacturer's warranty is about to expire. New vehicles vary greatly in the amount of coverage which comes as standard. Although we are now seeing enterprising manufacturers gain an advantage over the rest of the market by offering five year warranties, the standard warranty is still only one year or three years, and you invariably get what you pay for. The short duration of your vehicle's warranty may not be a factor for you, in that you may be someone who is happy to trade their vehicle frequently, and buy a new one.
If you are someone who likes to hold on to a car for a few years, you would be well advised to look at the new models which give you the five year guarantee. This is obviously a powerful statement of intent on behalf of the manufacturer, because the expense of offering such a warranty on an unreliable vehicle would be enormous. As you would expect, the sales figures for the manufacturers who are offering these warranties have rocketed. There is really no disadvantage to buying a vehicle with this type of warranty, as the price still has to remain competitive.
Of course, if you already have a vehicle which does not have this type of warranty, you will sooner or later face the time when you have to decide whether to sell the car, take out replacement insurance with a third party, or take the risk of surviving on the legal minimum of insurance. Surviving on the minimum level of insurance is only practical if you are prepared to write the vehicle off at a moment's notice, or if you can cover any repairs which may become due. If the vehicle is old, and has been running reliably for some time, this may be worth considering.
The vast majority of people will not be happy with the idea of leaving themselves exposed in this way, especially if they use the vehicle as part of their work. In most cases, it will be better to buy some peace of mind by taking out some insurance to replace the manufacturer's warranty. Although these are often known as warranties themselves, the term is inaccurate. The policies should be known as service contracts or service agreements. They are available to take your car right up to the point where is twelve years old.
Lexus used car warranty is worth considering unless you are on the verge of selling your car. Even if you think there is a strong possibility that you will sell in the near future, don't let that put you off. These extended warranties are fully transferable to any subsequent buyer, and provide a great incentive for them to choose your vehicle over someone else's, as well as justification for a higher selling price. Dealing with an established, reputable company will give you peace of mind, as there is a high risk inherent in buying a used car warranty.
